Supima Presents: Supima Design Competition

For the past three years Supima, a promotional organization of the American Pima cotton growers that supplies companies like Brook Brothers, Uniqlo, and Land's End, has hosted a design competition for emerging artist during Fashion Week, but for this fourth year they are hosting the competition at Lincoln Center! Two graduating senior students from four top design schools (Fashion Institute of New York, Pratt, Rhode Island School of Design, and Savannah College of Art and Design) were chosen to create a capsule collection of "women’s eveningwear gowns from premium Supima denims, knits, corduroys, twills, and shirting" (MBFW.com). In total there will be 40 looks for the judges to evaluate. And these judges are not shy to the fashion biz; Kevin Harter, vice president of men's fashion for Bloomingdale's, Nicole Miller, Coco Rocha, Charlotte Ronson and  Alexandra  Wilkis Wilson, founder and chief merchandising officer, Gilt Groupe will be on this year's panel.

The student who amazes this superb panel of judges at the end of the show will not only have the title of Winner of the Supima Design Competition but will also be awarded a $10,000 prize!

The eight finalist for this years competition are: Amy Bittner and Jusil Carroll from the Fashion Institute of Technology; MaRu Jung and Dara Rosen from Pratt Institute; Rachel Pullman and Connie Weng from the Rhode Island School of Design; and Lorena Cuevas and Marlow Larson from the Savannah College of Art and Design.

Supima and Mercedes Benz Fashion Week wants YOU to be apart of this journey! Tune into the LIVE STREAM FEED on Thursday September 8th at 1pm on MFBW website!
